Iligan Diners' Journal
Select Delecta!
Mouth-watering food? Home-made-accented delicacies served with smiles? East-meets-west dishes? Delectable goodies? Well, you can have it now all-in-one at Delecta Diner and Café.
Delecta is a home grown Iliganon family-owned restaurant in Iligan City. It is the best restaurant that you can invite visitors from other places in the country here in Iligan. The place is small but diners have a wide variety of food to choose from. The place is a bit small for a diner that caters to a throng of crowd. They have two branches. The original store is located at Aguinaldo St. and it gives off a vintage restaurant vibe while the new branch is strategically located at The Strip, in Palao. The Palao Resto is fairly new, modern and much bigger compared to the one in the city centre.
They are well known with their version of Baby Back Ribs. It’s a pork dish that’s well loved by the Iliganons and a must have for visitors. It is served with a Kamote (Sweet Potato) salad side dish and a cup of rice. The Baby Back Ribs and the Sweet Potato Salad tandem is the best. They just complement each other well. The meat is very tender. It is perfectly cooked. Their appetizers were great. Ideally one is expected to eat a lot of meat than rice, but typical Filipinos are raised as heavy rice eaters, thus this dish comes with an “UNLIMITED” serving of rice. Diners just need to request from one of the service crews for another cup. Another must try is the Sate Babi (Pork) which is three generous serving piece of grilled marinated meat skewered on a stick. Sate Babi is an Indonesian style take on our Filipino Barbeque. It goes with their best seller beverage “Tropical Coolers”, a four season juice with slices of orange, apple, papaya and watermelon. The Delecta cooler is worth ordering, it has diced fruit in it and the taste of the fruit juice is amazing. They also offer Snacks/Sandwiches, Noddles & Pasta, Soup, Salads, Value meals and Regular meals served with Unli Rice on their menu with prices ranging from 100 to 200 pesos.
That’s the best thing about Delecta. If you are looking for a heavy meal to be enjoyed by the whole family or your circle of friends, this restaurant is the best choice. It is very affordable. Aside from offering great food, they also provide great service evidenced by giving snacks while waiting for the food to be served and by giving a free slice of cake whenever a customer choose to dine in Delecta in his/her birthday. Delecta, from its facade to its interior and even to the dishes served has evolved from the time it was first opened for Iliganons but it still has that homey charm to it. Diners would surely go home stuffed and satisfied from enjoying wondrous and sumptuous meal that is delectable indeed.
